NORD PLUS JUNIOR PROJECT ‘DRIL’
2. Vidusskola is really pleased to be a part of this international team building project.
The
modern workplace is ALWAYS becoming more international and being part of a project
like DRIL will help you practice some of the skills the modern workplace
demands. And, coincidently, skills that CoVid is forcing upon businesses all over the globe.
So what is
DRIL? The project is known as DRIL because it explores the use of Digital
Routes for Intelligent Learning [Working]. It combines many of the OECD Skola
2030 Standards with the use of modern mobile technologies, both
in-classroom and in distance learning/working environments.
The principal
learning themes will be – Be Daring Be Creative Be Entrepreneurial and these
are married to the core values of – Be Honest, Be Responsible, Be Wise, Be Tolerant and, specific our philosophy at Ventspils
2. Vidusskola - Be Inquisitive. Our hope for the project is that the you will gain strength from developing an
awareness of your colleagues’ similarities and develop creativity from celebrating
our differences.
Students will have an opportunity to visit Iceland, Estonia
and Latvia for up to one week [each visit] and to experience working closely with
fellow students in multinational teams, therefore working in a second language.
The challenge? To produce a ‘product’ that reflects the cultural heritage of
each of the participating countries and the journey taken to create it.
You will be expected to
- ·
develop your skills in inter-personal
relationship building to help make your team a success.
- ·
deal with conflict and disagreement,
- ·
manage time,
- ·
deal with commitments and deadlines [set within
the team],
- ·
work in meetings
AND
- ·
do this working remotely over extended periods in
different time-zones.
DRIL is indeed an ambitious project and it is a ‘big ask’ of
you.
The teachers in the team will also be looking to the future –
Skola 2030, Project based learning, Distance learning, Team teaching [bringing
in specialist teachers as the need arises] and supporting your investigation of communication tools and
technology solutions. The whole process will be documented and the reflection
of the teaching team written up as a paper to contribute towards a view of best
practice.
Your work, the 'product' that you create with your colleagues,
will be publicly displayed in each of the three towns as well as online in a
project blog and as a digital book.
